Aim
To be a centre of excellence for research and training in the area of public health on various statistical and demographic tools and techniques.
Objectives

To contribute to the improvement of public health through effective teaching, training and research using -Statistics and Demographic techniques.

To undertake short courses in methods for quantitative research design, sample size calculation, data collection, analysis and evaluation for public health researchers in the country.

To contribute in policy and programme formulation and strategies of implementation concerning population, health and family welfare issues in the country toward achieving SDGs

Special Activities
World Population Day
Every Year Department of Statistics and Demography is celebrating World Population Day. This day aims to draw attention to the various challenges posed due to the growth of population, such as access to healthcare, education, employment, gender equality, environmental sustainability, and more. This day provides an opportunity to discuss and address these issues on a country level. The students of NIHFW is organizing the different types of activities related to population issues. Some highlights of the celebration of World Population Day-2024.
SAKSHAM-LMIS

Department of statistics and Demography is involved in development and maintence of SAKSHAM portal, a digital learning inititaive ofMoHFW. IT IS DEDICATED AND UNIFIED PLATFORM FOR PROVIDING ONLINE TRAINING AND MEDICAL EDUCATION IN THE COUNTRY.

Currently, more than 200 public health and clinical courses are available on SAKSHAM portal. More than 20,000 health professionals are using this portal for their capacity building. MoHFW has showcased this digital initiative in all Health Working Group Meetings under G-20 presidency in the year 2023.

This year 2024, under QUAD presidency, India is offering SAKSHAM as a digital public good to the Indo Pacific Countries for capacity building of their health professionals.
Mission Karmyogi

Annual Capacity Building Plan (ACBP) of MoHFW was launched by leadership on 17th May, 2023. NIHFW was designated Nodal Organization by MoHFW for all activities under Mission Karmayogi program. NIHFW has been assigned the role of content creator and reviewer for all the online content to be uploaded on iGOT portal.

It is capacity building program of Govt. of India for government officials in various competencies. Department of Statistics and Demography is involved in implementation of this program by onboarding of employees, content creation and review of courses for iGOT platform.
