Two-years Diploma in Health Administration (DHA)

As per the mandate of the Institute to provide appropriate trained manpower to meet the health needs of the country, the Institute has been offering NMC approved two-years post-graduate diploma course in Health Administration, since 1993. The admission to this course is done through PG-NEET counselling conducted by the MoHFW, Govt. of India. Out of 06 total seats, 3 are filled under ‘All India Quota’ and remaining 3 are filled under ‘University of Delhi Quota’. A student has to pay the online annual course fees, register in the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Delhi Portal and visit the academic section of the Institute with all original certificates, seat allocation letter, fees submission receipt, Bond of Rs 10,00,000/- during Monday to Friday between 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

This course is affiliated to the Faculty of Medical Sciences (FMSc), University of Delhi. The NIHFW conducts classes and training to DHA students and final examination is conducted by the Faculty of Medical Sciences University of Delhi. There are 4 theory papers and practical in final examination conducted by the university. The Institute conducts internal formative and summative assessment at the end of every year.

During 2023-2025 and 2024-26, 12 students attended the course including six in the second year and six in the first year. Hitherto, a total of 73 students have passed out this course, 6 students are enrolled for the year 2024-26. The alumni of this course hold senior positions in National /International Health Organizations and top level tertiary care hospitals. After completing the DHA course the MD (CHA) course may be completed in two years time. Student has to appear in NEET PG as per rule.

During the 2 years course, competency based syllabus is followed for teaching and training purpose. Students are trained at Rural Health Training Center, Najafgarh. Students are posted at the Urban Health Centres, viz PHC, Munirka and Poly Clinic, Masjid Moth for training. One month training in Hospital Administration is imparted at the RML Hospital, New Delhi. The DHA student has to submit a Dissertation after approval of Protocol by the PG Cell and Institute Ethics Committee (IEC) on the topic related to Public Health/Health Administration etc.

The DHA course is governed under the residency scheme of the DGHS, MoHFW, Govt. of India.
